Upendo is a childrens' home in South East Kenya. They provide education, support and love for 52 orphans. They also have a tailoring school.

What will I be doing?

Volunteers are needed to join Upendo over the school holidays to assist in various areas such as teaching, counselling and other activities such as art (painting, beading, sewing, drawing etc.), drama, dance and sports. School holidays are in April, August, November and December. Outside of the holidays volunteers can support the children’s centre with teaching, tailoring, social work and more. The tailoring school offers the children the opportunity to learn vocational skills by sewing and repairing their own uniforms.

What impact would I have?

Upendo support 52 orphans with all their needs at their day centre and in the community. By volunteering in the centre volunteers will ensure the children have somewhere to go to learn, play and have fun over the school holidays.

Volunteers will need to arrange own accomodation. Upendo can make recommendations in the local town; prices start from KES 1,500 (approx.)

2 weeks minimum –  6 months maximum.

Dinner daily, all meals on days off.
