The Mustard Seed Project

The Mustard Seed Project provides quality education to children and help to support women and youth out of poverty through education and skills.

Where is it?

Mgongeni, Kisauni an urban slum area of Mombasa, Kenya.

What will I be doing?

You will be volunteering at the school teaching in various lessons from drama to English. You could be supporting the youth through sports and outdoor activities. MSP have also provided the community with adult education, business training and microfinanace for women which you could get involved in depending on your skill set.

What impact would I have?

The Mustard Seed Project is making a difference in the slum area of Mombasa by providing quality education for children at the school, in the community and health care at the health clinic. Their sport and business programs also help the youth and women of the community. Microfinance for women has enabled them to start or expand existing businesses. The Mustard Seed Project aims to help the people out of poverty by giving them the confidence, education and skills to solve their own problems.

Who would I be working with?

You will be working with school aged children, adults in the community and local staff.

25+ unless previous experience


Home stay – £15/day all meals included. You will have your own bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Washing can be done for a small fee arranged locally.
